Have you noticed all the frogs and turtles on the road after a hard rain. Those poor kids often fare poorly with vehicles. If you come across an injured one, please remember that here at the hospital we take care of them for free and then
we release them back to their habbitat. Just bring them to us, it is at no cost to you.

Spring brings in the Wildlife
This is the time of the year when babies of all types abound. Bunnies, opossums, raccoons, birds, you name it, they are cropping up. We all love babies and want to help them and make sure that they grow up. It is of the utmost importance that if you find a baby anything, do not pick it up. The parents are probably nearby.
This is especially important when you find baby bunnies. The mothers only come and feeds them twice per day. Most of the time, humans will not see them with the babies. LEAVE THEM ALONE.
If you find a baby raccoon, LEAVE IT ALONE. It is very important that you do not handle baby raccoons. Try to build a protective shelter so that the mom can find the baby. If it is in the middle of the road, do not use your bare hands. Make sure you use a coat or other object to pick up so you do not become contaminated. Raccoons are the #1 animal for rabies in N.C. and in STOKES county.
Call us and we can help you with wildlife and normally it is free

Weight matters for our pets, also
Well, like for all of us, weight is a problem for our pets, also. We've all become aware of the fact that we equate food with love. Here at the clinic, we have started a weight management camp. We start your babies on their way to better health, then you take over at home. They stay for a week and during that time we work with them, teaching better eating habbits, develop fun excercise programs and start them on their way to better health.
We then work with the owners to help them continue the work and we show them the fun excercises to do with their babies.
Once the pattern is established at the camp, all the owner has to do is continue the program at home. Every 3 - 4 weeks we call and remind you to come by and weigh in. The weight check costs nothing and helps the owner continue to keep their pets on right track for a new LEASE on LIFE.
Jasper, the little chihuahua is our poster child. He has been with the program for about a month and has lost almost a pound. Wendy is working hard with him and you can keep up with his progress. Call us .
